RENEWABLE ENERGY: PARTNERSHIP BORMIOLI LUIGI AND AXPO ITALIA
The new parternship between Axpo Italia and Bormioli Luigi involves the supply of renewable energy originated from two photovoltaic plants located in Sicily, in the province of Trapani and Ragusa, for a period of ten years, from January 1st 2025 to December 31st 2034. The energy will be supplied to all Bormioli Luigi’s Italian Plants and will cover about 15% of the total annual consumption, for a volume of 30 GWh per year. Thanks to this PPA, the Bormioli Luigi Group will be able to speed up its decarbonisation path, which includes, compared to 2019 levels, a reduction target of respectively 30% in 2026 and 50% in 2030.
“Security, autonomy and sustainability of energy supplies are a priority for companies that wantto work on a continuous basis and be competitive at national and international level, with along-term perspective” says Simone Demarchi, CEO of Axpo Italia. “The partnership with Bormioli Luigi underlines the potential of Corporate PPAs as tools capable of promoting the growth of renewable sources hence guaranteeing stability to corporate production activities, generating economic and environmental benefits. We believe they are all fundamental incentives to speed up the energy transition, especially in the industrial sector, and we want to continue our efforts to make them even more widespread.”
“As descendents of one of the oldest European Industrial Traditions, leader in the production of high quality glass for the Beauty and Domestic Glass sectors, we want to take the leading role in the decarbonisation process by signing a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of electricity produced from renewable sources starting from January 1st 2025" says Vincenzo Di Giuseppantonio, CEO of the group Bormioli Luigi S.p.A. “A further demonstration of the concrete commitment of Bormioli Luigi, whose long-term strategy is in line with the country's energy transition.”
